Most rural subdivisions leave the school run to whoever buys the lot. At Clagstone the turnout is drawn into the entrance as its own feature, and the schools it feeds are five to nine miles away.

Tract B, at the entrance

A turnout, not a shoulder.

The first hundred feet of the neighborhood belong to everybody, and the school bus stop is part of it. The plans give it a turnout that pulls fully clear of N Clagstone Rd, so a bus loading children is out of the traffic lane rather than parked in it. It sits alongside the cluster mailboxes and the information kiosk on Tract B.

This is the part of the page that is ours rather than the county's. It comes off the approved construction plans, stamped by Lakes Highway District in February 2026, which is why it can be stated as a fact about the road and not a hope about the district. The site data sheet lists it with the rest of Tract B.

The public schools

Lakeland Joint School District 272.

A Clagstone address sits in district 272, and that is not an inference from a map. The county's tax record for this plat names school district 272 directly, which is the same record that bills the lot, so the district a home here belongs to is settled before anyone breaks ground.

District 272 runs two high schools, Timberlake in Spirit Lake and Lakeland near Rathdrum. A Clagstone address feeds Timberlake. For calendars, enrollment and current test results, the district publishes its own at sd272.org, which stays right when a page like this would go stale. The elementary sits in Athol itself, five miles down the road, alongside everything else the town has.

The other options

Charter and independent, both close.

Families out here do weigh alternatives, and two sit inside twenty miles. One is a public charter, which means no tuition and an application rather than a catchment. The other is independent and faith-based. Neither is a ranking and neither is an endorsement.

Call both before you decide. Neither publishes its tuition or its admission process, and for a charter the question that actually matters is whether places go by lottery and when applications open. That is a phone call, not a web page, and we would rather send you to them than print something that turns out to be last year's.

The honest note

What this page will not tell you.

There are no enrollment counts here, no graduation rates and no state rankings. Those numbers move every year, and a page quoting a 2026 figure three years from now is wrong without anyone noticing. So this page carries the things that hold still, which schools take which grades and how far they are, and sends you to the schools themselves for the rest.

The distances are road miles from the middle of the plat, measured rather than estimated. We publish miles instead of minutes on purpose: a drive time depends on the season, the school run and who is behind the wheel, and five point three miles to Athol is true in February.
